If you're looking for an elegant, natural look with no mistakes, the simple make-up is the best choice. See the step-by-step instructions in this article.
Step 1: Cleanse and moisturize the skin
Before applying makeup, it's important to cleanse and moisturize your skin to ensure it's healthy and ready to receive the products.
Wash your face with a facial soap suitable for your skin type and then apply some facial moisturizer.
The key here is not to go too heavy on the moisturizer, as it can damage the foundation/powder if applied too much. On the other hand, if you only apply a thin layer of moisturizer, it will act as a primer, helping to prevent the other products from cracking.
In addition, to further improve the fall of the make-up, it's important to keep your skincare up to date, so start doing it today! Learn all about it in this other blog article:

Step 2: Correct imperfections
If you want an even simpler make-up, you can skip this step and go on to step 3. But if you want a slightly more elaborate make-up for a more special occasion, do this step, as it makes all the difference to the final result.
If you have blemishes, dark circles, acne or other skin imperfections, use concealer to cover them up.
Choose a concealer a little lighter than your skin tone and apply it to the affected areas and under the eyes (always) with a brush, sponge or your fingers, lightly pat until the coverage is even.
Step 3: Apply foundation/powder/sunscreen with color
Even out the color of your face and smooth out imperfections is important to make you look your best. You can do this using foundation, powder or even a tinted sunscreen if you're going out during the day.
If you choose a liquid product, such as liquid foundation or sunscreen, apply it with a brush, sponge or your hands, spreading in a single direction or tapping until even. For a more professional finish, apply powder on top to seal.
Here's a little secret: to prevent the liquid foundation from cracking, first apply it to the back of your hand, add a little "serum" on top of it (any product you have with a serum texture, preferably moisturizing ones, such as the Mineral 89, by Vichy ), blend with a brush, and then apply to the face.
For a quick make-up, you can just use COMPACT POWDER, but don't forget to moisturize your skin a little first, as explained in STEP 1.
My favorite option: MAC compact powder foundation
That's the base I use every day, because it's more PRACTICAL to apply, and it's perfect for simple make-up. I use the Mac Studio Fix.
It's so practical that it combines the advantages of foundation, which evens out skin color and covers imperfections, and powder, which seals the skin and removes oil shine (which bothers me so much). Just take the sponge that comes with it and apply it as if it were a compact powder. For more coverage, apply 2-3 layers.
You can also carry it in your bag and reapply it whenever you feel the need. However, this type of foundation is not recommended for dry skin.
Step 4: Fill in and comb your eyebrows
Eyebrows are an important part of the face and can make all the difference to make-up.
Use a specific eyebrow pencil or shadow to fill in the gaps and enhance the natural shape. Remember to choose a color that matches your hair tone.
TIP: blend the filler you've made with a beveled brush for a more natural look.
TIP 2: comb your eyebrows with a gel/hair pomade to fix them. Today, I use a product my husband bought on the free market: Fox For Man Extra Strong Professional Styling Ointment. Much cheaper, more practical and even better than the Benefit eyebrow product I used to have (which costs an arm and a leg).
Step 5: Apply eyeliner
You can easily skip this step for a simpler make-up. However, if you're going for a more special occasion, I recommend it.
Eyeliner will TRANSFORM your simple make-up, adding an irresistible and charming highlight to your look. This simple detail will make you look and feel much more powerful.
Choose a black eyeliner and draw a line very close to the lashes. You can choose to do it with an eye pencil, as it's easier and more practical to do.
Tip: use a beveled brush to blend the line of the eyeliner with an eye pencil to disguise imperfections.
Tip 2: for a more elaborate make-up, apply a little eyeshadow to the eyelids before the eyeliner; I recommend a light brown, pink, nude or white eyeshadow.

Step 6: Apply mascara
This step is essential to make your simple makeup look amazing. It's quick and easy to enhance your eyes. Mascara makes your eyes look more open and striking. Choose a mascara that suits your needs and apply it to the upper lashes.
You apply more than one coat of mascara to your eyelashes to give them more volume and length. I currently use "Intense", by Boticário.
Step 7: Apply blush
Blush helps to give the face a healthier look, leaving the cheekbones with a more natural color after applying foundation/powder.
Apply it with a larger, fluffy brush, always with upward movementsin the area shown in the image below:
I currently use the blush from the O Boticário palette.

Step 8: Lips
To finish off your makeup, choose a neutral-colored lipstick or gloss to give your lips a natural shine. But another option is to use Lip Balm or Lip Tint, which give an even more natural look.
Lip balm is a lip product that helps moisturize and protect against dryness. It usually contains ingredients such as beeswax, oils and moisturizing butters.
Lip tint is a lip product that adds color in a subtle way, as if it were a dye. It is generally used to create a natural effect on the lips.
Even simpler make-up: how I do it
The way of applying make-up described above is an option that, despite giving a more natural and minimalist look, still uses a lot of products.
However, sometimes we don't even have time to follow the tutorial above, or we're going to a place where a natural look is more appropriate, like the gym or camping. That's why I'm going to show you another, even simpler tutorial that I usually use on these occasions:
- Start by washing your face with soap, or cleansing with micellar water
- Apply a tinted sunscreen or primer that lightly covers your imperfections, such as pores and blackheads, as well as evening out your skin tone and giving your face a glow. I currently use "SHEGLAM Birthday Skin Primer" from Shein, and it has worked well for me. I also use "L'Oréal Revitalift Magic Blur"which is even more natural and easier to apply
- Apply blush to the cheekbones for a healthy look
- Apply mascara to enhance your eyes
- Comb and, if necessary, correct your eyebrows
- Finally, I use a gloss on my lips, or Nivea blackberry lip moisturizerOr, since the make-up is quite simple, I use a more eye-catching lipstick to make the look stand out. Lately, I've been using Dailus' Marsala matte liquid lipstick, which you can easily find on the free market. Believe me, it makes all the difference to a look!
